Today’s card is for a Hope You Can Cling To challenge HYCCT1503 “I Am A Warrior”. It uses one of the Hambo Stamp’s images I have been waiting and waiting to use – For this challenge, create something that shows strength or inspiration. You could use Native American inspiration, something camo to represent our military heroes, any symbols that invoke strength and fierceness.

This challenge was a PERFECT opportunity to pull this image out and color it up (now I have to do it again soon because I adore it!) I had some Heroes in Pink digi paper that I thought would compliment this image so I printed the paper and used my Copic Hex Chart to match up the colors. I l-o-v-e it!Hambo Camo Bear copyRecipe:

  • Image: Camouflage Bear digi by Hambo Stamps
  • Sentiment: Hope Clear Set – Paper Smooches
  • Paper: White card (PTI) Chocolate and pink (Stash), DP (Digital paper – Heroes in Pink by Happy Hearts Studio)

7-scoop-ice-cream-cone

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by over 90 percent of the nation’s population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with “appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

Today is that day so…

HAPPY NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY!

In honor of this absolutely F-U-N day, I decided to create a fun card using Hambo Stamp’s Ice Cream Man and a shaker element. Now if I can just put it down and stop shaking it…

Happy Earth Day!!

22 Wednesday Apr 2015

Happy Earth Day!! It’s been forty-five years since the first Earth Day, an event to increase public awareness of the world’s environmental problems. Earth Day is honored around the world on April 22. So we are celebrating here at the Pigpen too! I thought it would be fun to do an Earth Day card today using two of Hambo’s digis – Trees and Caterpillar.Hambo TreesI decided to go rainbow with my caterpillar for a more “earthy” touch. I fussy cut it out (only the outline) and then colored the white between the legs to blend in with the grass so I didn’t need to go to the trouble of tediously cutting out those areas. I hope you have a great day; and don’t forget to do something nice for the Earth today… Recipe:

  • Images: Hambo’s digis – Trees and Caterpillar.
  • Paper: White cardstock (PTI), Green and Brown card (scraps) Vellum
  • Ink: Copics (trees) G05, G07, G09, G28, YG05, YG07, YG09, E33, E35, E37, E39; (grass) YG11, YG13, YG17; (sky) B000, B0000; (caterpillar) RV23, RV25, RV29, YR04, YR09, Y15, Y17, Y19, BG11, BG13, BG15, B01, B04, YG21, YG23, V22, V25, (shoes) R21, R22, R24, C1, C3, C5
  • Other: Basic Backdrop and Polka Dot Backdrop Dies (AJVD)

  • Make My Monday Challenge – Earth Day

You Nailed It! Twist-fold Card

18 Wednesday Mar 2015

hambohoedownbuttonFor my mid-month Hambo Hoedown inspiration, I decided to do one of my all time favorite fold techniques… A twist-fold card. Which is perfect for this month’s theme –“FOLDS”! If you have never tried this fold, you truly should. It is fun, easy, and unique looking – Get the tutorial here.

Hambo Carpenter outside

I created a masculine card that I will put a gift card from a home improvement store – I think this will be a perfect gift for Father’s Day. This technique creates a pocket on both the outside and inside of the card. I sealed the outside pocket, and left the inside pocket for my gift card, but you could keep them both open.

Hambo Carpenter insideNote: I generally prefer thick cardstock for my card bases; however, for this card type, that would be too bulky. Therefore, I use something thinner (like a Michael’s brand card that is 67Lb).

The Hoedown will last for the whole month of March (until March 31st at midnight.) You can use any company’s image for this challenge but if you have a Hambo image, why not use it? I mean, you want this new guy right!? He comes with some pretty funny sentiments too!

Recipe:

  • Image – Carpenter digi by Hambo Stamps
  • Paper – White card (Michaels), DP (Digi paper – tooltime)
  • Ink – Copics: Shadow W1, W3, W5, W7, Suspenders C3, C5, R24, R29, Hat Y15, Y17, Y19, Level YR12, YR15, YR18, Gloves Y21, Y26, Y28, Hair E33, E35, E39, Tool Belt and Shoes  E43, E44, E47, E49, Skin E00, E02, E11, E21, Shirt B00, B02, B04, B05, Jeans B91, B93, B95, B97, B99
  • Other – Basic Backdrop die (A Jillian Vance Design); screw brads

  • Creatalicious Challenges – Challenge #73 – Anything Goes

hambohoedownbuttonIt’s a new month and since it’s the first Wednesday  that means… it is time for a Hambo Hoedown! AND….We have a new image to place with – it is smile out loud C-U-T-E!! It is an origami bird (called Origami) and in honor of this little guy, the theme this month is “FOLDS” which means add a fun fold to your card and have fun with it!

The Hoedown will last for the whole month of March (until March 31st at midnight.) You can use any company’s image for this challenge but if you have a Hambo image, why not use it? I mean, you want this new guy right!? He comes with some pretty funny sentiments too!

Hambo Flappy Birday

For my card, I decided to go with one of my all time favorite fold cards – a gate fold card. And since I went with a dark card, I lined the inside and added some elements to coordinate with the front. I also made some paper beads (with my DP) to tie to the end of my twine and “tie it all together” (haha pun intended.)
