Today I have a super fun card using the Happy Beach Critters set from Prickley Pear at Pajama Crafter Stamps. I really wanted to do an underwater background that I could pair with the cute turtles in the set. I searched for a background tutorial online and found one HERE , and the best part is she used turtles on her sample so I knew it would be perfect but what do you think?
I used a sun ray stencil ( I couldn’t believe I had one), blue Distress Inks from the tutorial, and I colored my turtles with Copics and fussy cut them and glued them and the sentiment block to my background panel. I actually love this one! I is sweet and simple and turtley adorable 🙂
After I created my card I couldn’t help smiling – it reminded me of the scene in Finding Nemo where he is riding Crush. Amiright?
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you ae inspired to try anew background technique!
Today I have a few projects using the Birthday Banners stamp set as my main focus but I pulled in a few more sets for supporting rolls 🙂 Best Unicorn Buddies and Scalloped Borders Birthday. I wanted to show that these sets can be stretched by looking beyond the main images to the little “extras” often included in a set.
First I grabbed my stamps and a piece of Xpress-it card stock so I could color my images with Copics I grabbed the party hats and a present from the Birthday Banners set and a heart from Best Unicorn Buddies.
I cut a piece off the cardstock 4.25″x8.5″ to use as my base. I stamped the present and hats randomly all over the cardstock then I went in with the hear to fill in blank spots.
I grabbed my Copic colors and started coloring while sitting in front of a movie – this is one of my favorite things to do!
Once I had a completed “sheet”, I essentially had my own designer paper. I cut my card panel to fit onto an A2 card then realized there was a lot of fun paper left so I grabbed a tag day, then just used the scraps the best wat I could….
Here is my initially planned card. I wanted the background to shine so I just added a sentiment – I used the Let’s Celebrate sentiment embossed in white on black cardstock.
I cut out my tag and there was an extra hat let over right beside it so I created 2 tags. For this one, I pulled a sentiment from Scalloped Borders Birthday.
Finally, there was a little strip left and I thought why not! So I created another clean and simple card with the same sentiment I used with the tags.
Whew! That is not how I planned it!! I planned one card and came away with 2 cards and 2 tags with just a little more effort so I am super happy with my color session. What do you think? Do you have some filler stamps that you could use in the same way? I hope you look and see and have a great time creating!!
For today’s Prickley Pear Instagram Hop, I was inspired by the Spiltcoast Stampers Technique Lover’s Challenge to make selfies with character stamps. The snowman and snowgirl from the Holly Jolly Christmas set seemed the perfect fit.
I stamped the snowman, masked it off, and stamped the snowgirl beside him to create a selfie look. I colored the image with Copic markers and cut a Polaroid shape with a square and a rectangle die to frame my selfie.
To finish the card, I used a snowflake background I had in my stash and added a simple sentiment from the Ornament Set 2 to the polaroid. I think I love it!

Today I have a SWEET project to share with you! I am using the new Sweet Holiday Wishes Stamp Set from Sweet N Sassy Stamps and and let me tell you – these gingerbread people are oh so adorable!
I decided to go clean and simple with my project because….coloring! I stamped the Gingerbread girl on a kraft card front and colored it with pencils. It was so relaxing and satisfying and I love the simple one layer card.
I rounded the corners of the bottom of my top fold card and opted to add my sentiment “Wishing you a very sweet Christmas” on the inside of my card. It makes me happy!
I love coloring on kraft cardstock with color pencils. What about you? What paper do you prefer for color pencils?
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you were inspired! Lyn
My last cards for the fun SNSS birthday month use the Gnomie Christmas Digital Set. These little gnomes are so cute!
My first card is a mini card (2.25″x4″). I colored the image with Copic markers, fussy cut it, and popped it up with fun foam. I used a simple sentiment from the Stamp of the Month Mini Tag Sentiments, It is the perfect size for a gift tag but I think it could be a fun mailed card too.
My second card uses a watercolor background from my stash (extra points for this one!). It uses the Folk Art Snowflakes Set embossed over a distress ink blended background. I colored the image from the Gnomie Christmas Digital Set with Copic markers, fussy cut it, and adhered it onto a white band with the sentiment on it. I am loving the colors on this one :).
I hope you have enjoyed this fun birthday month with Sweet n Sassy and were inspired along the way! Thanks for stopping by today!
Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps is one of the sponsors for the Fall Winter Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop this month [ November 11 – 18.] There is a lot of inspiration to be found and and prizes to be awarded. More Details are on the SNSS Blog.
My Project today is pretty simple. I created a background with some colored cardstock and designer paper which I don’t use too often anymore. It is kind of nice to pull from my stash 🙂
I colored my image from Punny Love with Copic markers then added some coffee stains from Glunge Elements 2 using Distress Oxides in Brushed Corduroy. It is a simple little focal image and that is all there is to it.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have fun hopping and are inspired today!
Sweet N Sassy Stamps is celebrating 15 years this month and there is a month long celebration going on. Today there is an awesome digital product release which includes 5 new digital stamp sets, 1 printable, and 3 digital paper packs!
I have two cards today using the new digital set called Celebrate with Cake.
My first card uses the cake. It is simple Copic colored card but it has dimension and even a little bling with some “flame” shape gems.
My second card is a “background” card. I added the confetti and megaphone in a couple of spots on my card then I added a sentiment. I cropped out some of the confetti and copied and pasted it all over the remaining background. I colored everything with Copic markers, mounted it on a black background, and then onto my card base. Another clean and simple card but so much fun!
Thanks for stopping by! That’s all for today! This weekend there is a stamp-a-thon going on over at the SNSS VIP Page. Come on over to join the fun!!
Today I have a mixed media art journal page for my disc bound journal using lots of stamps, inks, and oh yeah, leaves…
I created a background on watercolor paper with distress inks and oxides and leaf dies Give Thanks and punches. then I randomly stamped texture using the Falling Leaves and Texture Tiles 1from Sweet N Sassy Stamps. Background – check!
For the main image, First, I created me… using Girl Power 2, I stamp my hair style and added glasses and shoulders. Then I sketched out arms and hands and a body. I wanted it to look like I had just jumped in a pile of leaves and was jumping for joy so I gathered up my stamp sets with leaves – Give Thanks, Happy Scarecrow, and Fall in Love with Jesus. I stamped, colored with Copics, and cut until I had a pile of leaves worthy of any kid on a crisp autumn day! I built the pile of leaves (did I mention there are a LOT of these.) Some leaves are buried at the bottom of the pile with little exposure but I really wanted dimension so the coloring, and cutting wasn’t wasted right? (haha).
Finally, I added my sentiment from the Give Thanks set and colored it in with my Polychromos pencils. I just felt like I would be praising God for such a glorious time and I LOVE how it turned out. I hope you do too!
Have a great day and THANKS for stopping by! Lyn
P.S. and by the way… Falling Leaves is the Stamp if the Month at SNSS this month. It is free with a $65 purchase!
Today I have a fun card for you using the Sweet N Sassy Stamp of the Month Happiness Blooms.
Using Distress Inks, I stamped Texture Tiles 1 to create a background on watercolor paper. I spritzed it a bit to give it a watercolor(y) look. I stamped the flower from Happiness Blooms over it and colored with Copic markers. It has a loose look because of the Copics on watercolor paper. To give it a more crisp look, I went back in with Polychromos pencils. I love the colors on this one. I layered it all up and there is the card. I just needed a sentiment…The sentiment strip comes from Pray Without Ceasing. It is a great encouragement card don’t you think?
Happy Monday Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We are getting a little “false Spring” here in Georgia. Today we have a high of 61 degrees and a low of 51 degrees and I am ready to plant something haha – It isn’t time though! While I wait, I will satisfy my need with some floral images on my cards:)
This is my week to host the Technique Lover’s Challenge at SplitcoastStampers. I found THIS VIDEO and thought it looked so fun. Not too hard, but still very unique. She calls it a “flip flap” card but we already have a technique with that name and it is different from this one so I am calling this a “Layered Flap Card”. I hope you have fun with this challenge. I really love the results and can’t wait to see what you think!
Here is the front of the card:
I used Distress Oxides and SNSS Texture Tiles 11 to create a little texture on the kraft (Neenah Dessert Storm) front panel. I stamped the florals from God is Good and God is Love with Simon Says Stamps Intense Black and colored them with Copics (R00, R01, R01, R05, BG10, BG11, BG15, and YG93, YG95, YG99.) I stamped the inside sentiment with Vesafine Clair Nocturne.
Here is the card as it opens up. The pattern paper that creates the “flap arm” is recycled from my 2021 calendar/planner. I loved the pattern and have been holding onto it waiting for the perfect project. This was it. I built the card around it and I love it!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you were inspired! Come on over and join the challenge at SCS this week!
