Catch the Bug is going to two month long challenges. Today we have the first and it is an Anything Goes Challenge. I have a clean and simple birthday card for you inspiration.
I combined the sentiment and image from Stella Facebook Birthday and printed it out on lightweight watercolor paper. Then I smooshed some Distress Oxides on top to add color without having to color. It was hard not to pull out my color pencils or Copics but ultimately I love that I was able to create a fun card in a relatively short amount of time. I just had to die cut the layer and adhere them together.
What do you think?
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you were inspired! Now its your turn to try to create something clean and simple without spending a lot of time!
Today’s card is a one layer card on watercolor card.
I used one of the leaf stems from the Botanical Branches set to create a curved frame for the big sentiment from My Thoughts of You. I did a little ink smooshing with Distress Oxides then I colored in the image with colored pencils for some color pop. This set is so perfect for clean and simple and awesome!
Thanks for stopping by – I hope you are inspired to create a one layer card! Lyn
Today I have a simple water color project. I stamped one of the Botanical Branches several times with various colors of Distress Ink then I “water colored in the leaves” with those same inks. I spritzed the page and let the ink bleed a bit then I pressed a paper towel to dry it some. I split the panel and inserted a sentiment strip from Be Encouraged in the middle of the pieces to make the stems look longer.
This was really simple but the results are so pretty – I love it! I hope you are inspired today!

Today I have two different projects using an all time favorite Sweet N Sassy Stamp – Scribble Flowers.
The first project is a CAS card with some very unique pieces. I stamped the Texture Tiles 11 Background onto a piece of tissue paper with archival ink. I adhered it onto a piece of cardstock I cut it into strips with a pierced die then I inked up each piece with Distress Oxides and added it to a card base, fussy cut it, and glued it onto the card. Then I water colored the leaf from Scribble Flowers in coordinating colors. A simple Birthday greeting from Birthday Wordfetti and that is all there is to this one.
My next project is a mixed media ATC Coin. These little canvases are so much fun to work on and this little 2.5″ circle has a lot going on.
I created the background with Distress Oxides and the smooshing technique. Using Archival Inks and the Typewriter Text Background, I added a little texture. Then I Copic colored the Flower and bee from Scribble Flowers. Finally, I added a sentiment from the Faith Wordfetti Set and that is all there is to this one. I really love it!
I hope you were inspired today! Thanks for stopping by! Lyn

Today I have a couple of cards using the Kindness Matters set. In a crazy world, it is so important to remember just how much!
My first card uses Texture Tiles 10 clouds embossed and resisted with Distress Inks. To finish it off, I added another one of those adorable chicks from Hoppy Spring. I rotated it to make it look like it was flying instead of standing. What do you think?

This month I am featuring the Easter Innies Set. At first I was a little stumped on how to use them in a fun way. So… I challenged myself to use them first in the obvious way and then in some other way.
So – first, it would be obvious to use it inside of a card. But, where is the fun in that? So I went with the next most obvious way…on the outside of a card. I used some inked up paper in my stash that went with my Copic colored image – a DIGI stamp called Jelly Beans Carrot. You can get this image free from the SNSS VIP February Challenge Album so go grab it and join the challenge! I used one of the more simple sentiments from the set thinking that, with this sweet bunny, it would be a great kid’s card. I have challenged myself to mail this to a kiddo that I won’t get to see at Easter.
Next, I created another journal page in my new “calendar journal” haha! I inked up the background with Distress Oxides, stenciled the sun from one of the new stencils called Rise & Shine Stencil and used Texture Tiles 10 to add subtle clouds. I colored up another digital stamp called Old Rugged Cross with Copics and Polychromos pencils. I took one of the Innie sentiments and cut it out in word blocks. I rearranged it a bit to go with my page – it is really fun to see how you can stretch your stamp sets and I am so happy I challenged myself. It is a simple page but I really like it!
I hope you had fun hoping along and were inspired by all you saw! NOW head over to see what Sheri has created for you!!
If if you get the opportunity to craft with some of these great stamps (or any other SNSS stamp) we would love to see what you create on our SNSS VIP Group Facebook Page; Or tag your creations with #snss or #sweetnsassystamps on Instagram.
You know those stamp sets that beg to be made into a set of cards? Sweet N Sassy’s new Faith Phrases set is one of those for me…
For my project today, I grabbed some watercolor paper, a couple of stencils, Brusho watercolor powder, and just had fun making bright backgrounds that I could then add my Faith Phrases to. It was a lot of fun and now I have a set of cards I can send out or give as a gift (my mom has been asking for some cards to send to her friends…hmmm – a Valentine gift maybe?)
I backed each background and sentiment with a coordinating cardstock and added a few gems to finish them off. Here is the full set.
Here is each card individually.
I hope you love these like I do and are inspired to create a set of your own!
For today’s post, I had so much fun with one of the November sets called A Little Snarky. She reminds me of my friend Jennifer – I Love it!
I wanted to try multiple coloring options for her so I created two projects.
The first project is a card. I inked her up on some watercolor paper then used some shimmery Michael’s brand watercolors. I splashed some ink over the card and created a shadow around her. I also used some designer paper from my stash (only a billion more pieces to use now 🙂 )
For my second project, I created a page in my mini journal page. I used Distress Oxides for the background then used Texture Tiles 1 and Texture Tiles 3 for the dimension.
I colored up my Snarky Girl with Copics and fussy cut her and glued her onto the page. I added a little washi tape and the sentiment and just need to add her to my journal!
Today I have two cards using the new Bushel of Blessings set from Sweet N Sassy. This set is absolutely beautiful! I have been coloring all of the images up but for my cards today, I thought it would be fun to test the versatility of this one using the wheel barrow of pumpkins and flowers.
The first card uses Bristol smooth paper. I inked the image with Archival Ink Coffee color. Then I “water colored” the image with Distress Ink frayed burlap color for the sepia tones. I dried and inked in layers for shading but always with the same color. I used a simple sentiment from Sentimental Wordfetti.
The second card uses ALL the color the first one didn’t use. I used Canson XL watercolor paper and Distress Inks. I blended some blues on the top 3/4’s of the paper and then spritzed it for texture. I used the leaves from Falling Leaves and randomly inked them in reds, oranges, yellows, and moss green to ink the bottom of the page. I repeated the leaves to cover the ground and lightly spritzed it too. I colored the image with Copics, fussy cut it, and put it on top of the leaves. The sentiments is from the Bushel of Blessings set.
This was super fun. I love them both and couldn’t choose one if I had too! What about you? Color or No Color?
This weekend, I took my inspiration from my desk 🙂 Meaning, there was versa mark, embossing powders and “watercolors” and the Sweet N Sassy stamp set Begin Again. These butterflies are so beautiful and have so many possibilities!
Here is what I came up with…
First – a set of cards. using the big butterfly, a rainbow of Brusho colors (one at a time) and gold embossing powders. My mom is going to love these! She is always asking me for greeting cards and these should be perfect for any occasion.
My second project is a mixed media look. I used Distress inks, the smaller butterflies, clear embossing powder, and Psalm 23 to add to the background.
My final project is a Bible Journal card using a card I had previously done and the small butterfly and sentiment in silver – I love this simple card!
I hope you were inspired to play – embossing powder can be super fun and add a lot to your projects!
