It is wet and cool here in Northern Georgia today, and I have a card that is perfect for this eerie weather… Today’s card is a fun, CAS card using Birdie Brown’s precious new Monthly Challenge Freebie – Boo! Don’t cha just love it!!

Birdie Brown Boo

OMG! Have I have been having lots of fun with my new Halloween Prints from Papertrey Ink! For this card, I used Copics (YR02, YR04, YR07, YR09, YG63, YG67) my new PTI printed paper, all mounted on True Black cardstock from PTI with some added ribbon and glittery dots (which I have had for a long time – I bought them for a challenge for last Halloween and didn’t really use them…). Easy Peasy!!

Challenges:

  • Birdie Brown’s Monthly Freebie Challenge – Boo!
  • Simon Says Stamp – Anything Goes Challenge
  • Use It Tuesdays  #64 Use Two Hoarded Items (glitter dots and ribbon – now I only have 9 yards to go and 3/4 of a page of dots before they are all gone :))
  • Diva’s By Design – Mononchrome

Have a great day and stay warm and dry! 🙂

Find Joy Everyday!

27 Monday May 2013

Lacy SunflowerHappy Memorial Day! Just a quick post today – so thankful for the freedoms we have been given and for those who put their lives out there to protect those freedoms for us.

I have had this card for a while but have been waiting for a Lacy Sunshine Challenge that she fit. This week is Anything Goes so I don’t think it will get better than that… Here is Sunny – a “flower-pot pretty” by Heather at Lacy Sunshine – is she not precious!!

I used a cute sketch from Delightful Inspiration, then I colored her up with Copics, used PTI cardstock for the base and Stampin’ Up DP for the background. I added a few touches of sewing, and topped it off with a button from PTI and a freebie sentiment from Torico at Birdie Brown – Find Joy Everyday! Such a great aspiration!!

I am also going to enter this card into the following challenges:

  • Created with Love Challenge-  #43 You lift me up (at least 3 layers – got it!)
  • Challenges for Everybody – #21 Anything Goes

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Autumn Gnome

17 Wednesday Oct 2012

This month’s freebie challenge by Birdie Brown is so cute, I can’t stand it. I smiled out loud with this one!! It is a perfect autumn card with leaves and a little gnome that you can picture walking through the woods on a crisp fall day.

I found a great sentiment by Emily Bronte  to compliment the image – “Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.”

For this one, I did a simple sketch – a challenge from Splitcoast Stampers (SC403) which I felt really complimented the great, wonderful, sweet, etc… stamp!

Below is the Sketch – I got the idea from my Hambo friend Jan Hunnicutt who is a crazy talented individual. She has done some awesome cards with this sketch and I wanted to try one (maybe two or four) of them as well! Very simple and very fun!!

Supplies for this card:

Stamp: “Gnome Boy in a Wood” image by Birdie Brown

  • Paper: Rust from Recollections Market Spice; Lucky Limeade from Stampin’ Up; Dark Chocolate from Papertrey Ink

Ink: Copic Markers

Other Supplies: Spellbinders Oval and Scalloped Oval Die Cuts

Try it out and I hope you have fun with it!

I am going to enter this one in Scrap Creations – Going Grey with Scrap (GGSC135 – Leaves)challenge

Thanks for stopping by! ‘Til next time!!

Apple Seeds

28 Friday Sep 2012

This month’s freebie at Birdie Brown is actually two. There is an adorable bear and an apple tree. They were so fun to color and such great simple designs – I decided to make a CAS card with them. Her images frequently lend themselves to clean and simple. Love them!

After going on-line to find a great sentiment that would go with apples, I found a wonderfully thoughtful one that reminded me that I don’t know everything and I am not in charge! Thank you Mr. Robert H. Schuller! – “Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed.”

Supplies used for this card:

  1. Stamp – “Bear” and ” Apple Tree” images by Birdie Brown
  2. Paper:
    • Lucky Limeade by Stampin’Up
    • Brown linen texture by Recollections
    • DP by DCWV
  3. Ink: Copic Markers
  4. Other supplies: a button and twine

I am so happy Fall is here!! Thanks for stopping by! ‘Til next time!

Every Little Bit Helps…

13 Monday Aug 2012

This is a quick simple birthday card I created for the Scrapbook USA Expo Card Drive. The cards will be used for Operation Write Home and Huntsman Cancer Institute. They have a goal of over 3000 cards!

This will be the sample card to go with the three card kits I made. I tried to make it somewhat simple because children will be getting to put them together. As I understand it, this allows the children undergoing treatment to be able to use the power of healing arts to put together their own cards.

If you would like to participate, you can simply make a card or you can make card kits – card kits should be in a ziplock bag with all the supplies (glue sticks not needed) for the patient to assemble their own card.

Go to the Scrapbook Expo USA Blog to learn more details (including shipping address and deadlines) for this great project!

All those who participate receive a set of free digis from Doodle Dragon Studios (they are really cute!) It’s such a worthwhile cause – It’s a Win-Win!

 Supplies for this card:

  1.  Stamps:
    • “Candle” digital stamp by Doodle Dragon Studios (I don’t remember which set it was in…so sorry!)
    • “Make a wish” digital stamp by Birdie Brown (free this month)
  2. Paper
    • Recollections Card Stock – White, Gold and Turquoise (for the boys cards) and Pink and yellow (for the girls cards)
  3. Ink:
    • Copic Markers
  4. Other Supplies
    • Twine
    • Happy Birthday [Cuttlebug] embossing Folder
    • Various circle punches from 7/8″ to 2 1/4″ (Stampin’ Up)

Directions:

  • Adhere the circles to the A2 card first.
  • Run it through the Cuttlebug with Happy Birthday folder.
  • Decorate to your taste!

Thanks for stopping by! ‘Til next time!
