SNSS Let US Rejoice!

27 Tuesday Sep 2022

Today I have two projects using a new set from Sweet N Sassy called Let us Rejoice. One is pretty clean and simple and the other is a journal page. This set is absolutely precious! I had a great time playing with them!

First I have clean and simple card that was all about the coloring. I really love to use pencils on kraft. There is just something so perfect in the combo. I stamped up my image on a 4.25 (square) card from Neenah Dessert Storm and colored it with Polychromos pencils. I didn’t want to have to mask so I colored the baby Jesus separately and fussy cut it and adhered it to make sure it blended with Mary and Joseph. I blended out a little night sky and added one of the sentiments from the set (there are a few wonderful choices!) I rounded the corners and added twine (I dyed it to match the sky using Copic markers) and a star button – it was a little on the bright yellow side so I colored over it with a Copic color that matched the yellow gold on Joseph’s robes.

For my second project, I have an art journal page and I really love it. This is in my disc bound 6×6 journal. I used Distress Oxides for the background . I spritzed a little water for some “stars” and added some washi tape for the “straw” – the washi part is my least favorite part, but I played with it over and over and decided it was a mixed media piece and I could just build on it. I am ok with the final result :). I colored my images from Let us Rejoice with Copics, fussy cut them and adhered them to my page. I grabbed the star die from the Born this Day Set (love this one for it’s sweet image and great sentiments for inside and outside of the card.) I cut the verse from Let us rejoice into strips and cut off the word joy to replace it with a Joy die-cut from the Peace and Joy Word Dies set. After I got to hear, I felt like I needed someone to rejoice at the star so I added the Scene Silhouettes: Jesus is Born wise men into the background and that was the missing piece for me… some white pen doodles finish this off and it makes me smile out loud!

I love them both and I think it really shows how versatile this set is!!

Thanks for stopping by!

SNSS Instahop – Give Thanks

21 Wednesday Sep 2022

Today there is a hop on Instagram for Sweet n’ Sassy Stamps. For my projects, I have used Give Thanks stamp set and dies.

For my first project, I have a clean and simple card on kraft (Neenah Dessert Storm) I stamped the Script Background with Versa Mark for a tone on tone look. I added a simple sentiment strip with a sentiment from Begin Again. I did some light ink smooshing on the Dessert Storm too then stamped a leaf from Give Thanks. I stamped the Script onto the leaf in a few spots then colored over it with color pencils to make it pop the cut it out with the coordinating die.

My second project is an ATC card with a mixed media background. I did some ink blending with Distress Oxides, then for texture, I stamped the Falling Leaves Background and Script Background in a few spots [By the way… the Falling Leaves Background is the stamp of the month this month – free with a $65 purchase.] I stamped two leaf stems from Give Thanks, colored them with Copics, cut them out with the coordinating dies, and adhered them to my ATC. Finally I added a word strip from Faith Wordfetti and darkened the edges with Ground Espresso Distress Oxides.

Finally, I stamped a leaf from Give Thanks and colored it with Copics and die cut it. I also die cut a few black leaves and stacked them with the colored leaf for some dimension. I also colored the edge black. Then I created a background on white card by stamping the Sentiment and randomly stamping leaves in black. I splashed some Distress inks onto it it wouldn’t be too stark. I adhered the stack leaves and that’s all there was to this one.

This was a lot of fun – I hope you were inspired! If you want to see what everyone else created, head over to SNSS on Instagram.

Thanks for stopping by!

Art Journal – Lots of Leaves

13 Tuesday Sep 2022

Today I have a mixed media art journal page for my disc bound journal using lots of stamps, inks, and oh yeah, leaves…

I created a background on watercolor paper with distress inks and oxides and leaf dies Give Thanks and punches. then I randomly stamped texture using the Falling Leaves and Texture Tiles 1 from Sweet N Sassy Stamps. Background – check!

For the main image, First, I created me… using Girl Power 2, I stamp my hair style and added glasses and shoulders. Then I sketched out arms and hands and a body. I wanted it to look like I had just jumped in a pile of leaves and was jumping for joy so I gathered up my stamp sets with leaves – Give Thanks, Happy Scarecrow, and Fall in Love with Jesus. I stamped, colored with Copics, and cut until I had a pile of leaves worthy of any kid on a crisp autumn day! I built the pile of leaves (did I mention there are a LOT of these.) Some leaves are buried at the bottom of the pile with little exposure but I really wanted dimension so the coloring, and cutting wasn’t wasted right? (haha).

Finally, I added my sentiment from the Give Thanks set and colored it in with my Polychromos pencils. I just felt like I would be praising God for such a glorious time and I LOVE how it turned out. I hope you do too!

Have a great day and THANKS for stopping by!
Lyn

P.S. and by the way… Falling Leaves is the Stamp if the Month at SNSS this month. It is free with a $65 purchase!

Faith-dex Card: Pray without Ceasing

27 Friday May 2022

Happy Friday! Today I have a kind of simple but really beautiful faith-dex card.

I used a Heidi Swapp faith-dex die cut and the new Sweet N Sassy Stamps Pray Without Ceasing set. While I love the bigger sentiments for their versatility in card making, I really love the more wordfetti type sentiments as they are so comforting. My favorite is “He bends down to listen.” It makes me think of a father getting right down on the same level as his child to make sure he is present in the conversation and the child knows he is there, listening, and ready to act as needed. This one really gets me in the feels!

I used water color paper to cut out my card, I used the blending brushes on my desk with the Mosaic Stencil – I didn’t add ink to them just used what was left from other projects. I used Distress Oxides to stamp up my wordfetti in in a reverse rainbow and then I felt it was too simple (haha) so I dug through my stack of already colored images and found a leaf set from Botanical Branches which I cut apart to balance up my card. On the back, I added a scripture from the Pray Without Ceasing set for me to memorize:
1 Peter 5:7 – Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

I love how this turned out. It isn’t my usual bright color set which is a nice change. I hope you are inspired! Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Lyn

Song Bird – Mini Art Journal

29 Friday Apr 2022

Today I have sweet little journal page in the mini journal I made using my memorydex dies.

First, I did some fun but simple background texture with distress oxides, the leaf branch stencil, and Spotted and the “rain” from Puddle Jumpers and then I toned it down a bit with watered down white acrylic paint. I stamped one of the birds from Song Birds on top of this and colored it with my Polychromos colored pencils. They work great – easily coloring over other things! Finally I used Versa Clair Nocturne ink for the sentiment/verse.

I hope you like it and are inspired. Sometime a little canvas is just what you need to keep creative!

God is Sovereign – One set 2 ways

28 Monday Mar 2022

Today I have a couple of projects using this month’s God is Sovereign set. I also grabbed some stencils and water based inks to create my backgrounds. One is a simple-ish card and the other is a mixed media art journal page.

First the card… I used the Delightfully Delicate Stencil on water color paper, spritzed in and added brusho’s (powder water color.) I used the reverse side of the stencil on another sheet of watercolor for another look – this is that piece. I used the flower from God is Sovereign and a sentiment from Sentimental Wordfetti.

Now for the Art Journal Page. For this one, I threw a lot at it… I first ink blended with Distress Oxides (worn lipstick, mustard seed, and broken china) I sprayed it with water to blend it, I stamped over that with the Script Background Stamp. I added Spots randomly along the edges from Spotted (This is the stamp of the month) and used the Grunge Grid Stencil for added texture.

After I created the background, I built up a sentiment block using the words and the flower from God is Sovereign. I colored the flower with polychromos pencils and finished my page with some white paint splatters. I love it – this set like the other before it created by SNSS team member Deirdre Cason is just so sweet and versatile.

I hope you are inspired.

Thanks for stopping by!

By the way… there is a sale going on right now and there is still time for you to take advantage of it – the hard part will choosing 🙂

SNSS Mixed Media Joy

11 Friday Mar 2022

Spring is in the air big time. My tulips are out of the ground and just minutes away from blooming! How is the weather in your area?

Today I have a “CAS” – mixed media card. Is that even possible? I had a gel print in my stash that I thought would add some background interest for my sweet pail of flowers and sentiment from the new Puddle Jumpers set from Sweet N Sassy.

I used acrylics to create the background and colored my image with Polychromos pencils. I grounded my pail with some washi tape then added more in a few spots to balance everything. I added a bright, contrasting mounting piece and that is all there is to it. I really like it but what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are inspired to create something today.

SNSS Sweater Weather!

14 Friday Jan 2022

Posted by Lyn T in Art Journal, CAS, Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

It is finally, really and truly sweater-weather here. Up until now, we have been more “long sleeve t-shirt weather” in Georgia. We are preparing for snow and ice this weekend and when that happens we see a run on grocery stores and people tuck in – we do NOT want to get on the roads as we are simply not prepared nor are we particularly good at it 🙂

Today I have 2 projects to share; some clean and simple cards and an art journal page using the new Sweet N Sassy Stamp stamp set… Sweater Weather ha – right?!

First, I have a couple of clean and simple cards using one of the elements from Sweater Weather and part of a sentiment from another new set called Snowy Hello – I used a stamp shape die and positioned the image and sentiment to look like a fun winter postage stamp.

My second project is an art journal page in my mini art journal. I used an embossing folder to add some texture. I added a little glitter embossing powder and some snowflake sequins for a fun touch. I colored my sweater with Polychromos pencils. I added sentiment blocks and then outlined it with a navy Stabilo water pencil. It makes me smile out loud – I love it!

I hope you were inspired by my projects today!

Thanks for stopping by!

SNSS Bunnies, Bunnies, Bunnies

26 Friday Mar 2021

Today I have a super sweet post filled with the cutest cuddliest… bunnies! Who doesn’t love bunnies amiright? Sweet N Sassy has some truly adorable bunnies in both clear stamps and digital stamps….

FIRST we have this so cute little guy from this month’s Hoppy Spring set. I inked him up on a Neenah Desert Storm card stock base, masked him, them covered the background with the new Textures 11 flowers using Versa Mark for a tone-on-tone look. I unmasked and those flowers moved to the background so I could color my bunny with colored pencils and have a one layer card.

Next I have another clean and simple card, but this time, I didn’t fill in the white space. (I did, however, die-cut and mount my panel for a little dimension :)) This card uses a new digi called Bunny Love. It comes with a sweet sentiment that I have used on many a project lately! I created my “card front” in a word doc with the bunny and sentiment placed just where I wanted them. I printed, colored him with Copic markers, and die-cut the layers – that is all there is to it!

My last project is a mixed media ATC (Artist Trading Card) that I created for a team swap. I used Distress Oxides on heavy watercolor paper to start my card. I added texture with Typewriter Text BG, Texture Tiles 5, and the new Grunge Dots Stencil. I created a word doc with a bunch of my images and sentiments from Valentine Bunny with Heart and Bunny Love respectively and had a fun day of coloring and fussy cutting. I added a little washi from my stash to “ground” my bunny and balance my ATC then glued my image and sentiment down… I signed the back and mailed off to my friends – SO MUCH FUN!

I hope you were inspired today – HOP to it and go great something this weekend!

By the way, there are still a few more days to get in on the SNSS moving sale!

Thanks for stopping by!

This month I am featuring the Easter Innies Set. At first I was a little stumped on how to use them in a fun way. So… I challenged myself to use them first in the obvious way and then in some other way.

So – first, it would be obvious to use it inside of a card. But, where is the fun in that? So I went with the next most obvious way…on the outside of a card. I used some inked up paper in my stash that went with my Copic colored image – a DIGI stamp called Jelly Beans Carrot. You can get this image free from the SNSS VIP February Challenge Album so go grab it and join the challenge! I used one of the more simple sentiments from the set thinking that, with this sweet bunny, it would be a great kid’s card. I have challenged myself to mail this to a kiddo that I won’t get to see at Easter.

Next, I created another journal page in my new “calendar journal” haha! I inked up the background with Distress Oxides, stenciled the sun from one of the new stencils called Rise & Shine Stencil and used Texture Tiles 10 to add subtle clouds. I colored up another digital stamp called Old Rugged Cross with Copics and Polychromos pencils. I took one of the Innie sentiments and cut it out in word blocks. I rearranged it a bit to go with my page – it is really fun to see how you can stretch your stamp sets and I am so happy I challenged myself. It is a simple page but I really like it!

I hope you had fun hoping along and were inspired by all you saw! NOW head over to see what Sheri has created for you!!

If if you get the opportunity to craft with some of these great stamps (or any other SNSS stamp) we would love to see what you create on our SNSS VIP Group Facebook Page; Or tag your creations with #snss or #sweetnsassystamps on Instagram.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
