You’ve Got Mail!

How about a Doodle Dragon Challenge today – Make a “Square Card”… For today’s card, I am using a cute little Doodle Dragon Dudley waiting for mail. This was part of a free mini set I got during the OWH weekend.

Doodle Dragon MailboxMy cousin is moving to England (Air force) for two years and her four year old is one of my favorite people! I have been collecting cute images to make cards for him over the next two years and this is one of them. He loves getting mail and I think he will love getting this card.

I colored my image with Copic markers and stamped my sentiment with Memento Rich Cocoa (Sentiment is from the Where your Heart is Stamp set from Simon Says Stamp)

My card is a 4.25″ square (base white by PTI). I also used dark chocolate card (PTI), DP from the DCWV Green Stack, and a piece of white card embossed with “Script”. I used a square Spellbinders Die to cut out the image using the out of the box die technique, and used Stampin’ Up oval and scallop oval punch for my sentiment.

I am also going to enter this card into The Crafting Café “For The Boys” challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

I Triple-Dog-Dare You!

11 Tuesday Dec 2012

I am starting to get caught up with my Christmas cards and have a new one to add to the pile….DD Tounge Stuck

Doodle Dragon Studio has some really cute stamps! For this week’s Challenge, Red and Green, I chose an image that makes me laugh out loud each time I look at it. It is called “Tongue Stuck” and it makes me think of “A Christmas Story” when the Ralphie triple-dog-dares Flick to stick his tongue to the flag pole… The “Triple-dog-dare” is infamous for the sole reason that you cannot back down from it–without exception! If a triple-dog-dare is issued, you have no option, you must take the dare. Flick took the dare and well…his tongue stuck.

I made this one in to a gate fold card! Fun, Fun, Fun!!

Supplies for this card:

  1. Stamp: “Tongue Stuck” by Doodle Dragon Studios
  2. Paper:
    • Pure Poppy Cardstock by Papertrey Ink
    • DP by Making Memories
  3. Ink: Copic Markers
  4. Other Supplies:
    • Oval and Scalloped Oval Punch by Stampin’ Up
    • Rectangle and Deckled Rectangle Dies by Spellbinders
    • Ribbon

Challenges I am entering this card into:

  • Dream Valley Challenge – #47 Christmas
  • Robyn’s Challenge – #137 Christmas Cards

Thanks for stopping by! ‘Til next time!

The “Bear” Minimum?

21 Tuesday Aug 2012

Posted by Lyn T in CAS, Doodle Dragon Studios

This week’s challenge at Pike’s Playground (Doodle Dragon Studios) was to do a clean and simple card using a bear image. They call the challenge “The ‘bear’ minimum.” Since they have so many cute bear images to choose from, I had a very difficult time choosing. I’ve seen a lot of fall challenges and blogs lately, so I decided to go with a cute bear and pumpkin image that came in the 2011 August Membership set at Doodle Dragon Studios.

I used the sentiment “Happy Fall Y’all!” I love the fall! It means sweaters but no coats, carnivals with candy apples, and the return of College Football! I can’t wait!!! But after this one, maybe I will think summer for just a little while longer…

I recently learned to do easel cards so decided to do another one for this challenge (this time square) and I must say, I think I love this style card a LOT!!

I tried to keep it simple but I did give it some color…Hope it still counts?

So as this is a simple card the supply list is simple too:

  1. Stamp: AugArt22B Bear with Pumpkin by Doodle Dragon
  2. Paper: assorted cardstock (not sure what brands, they were in a random pile)
  3. Ink: Copic Markers
  4. Other Supplies:
    • “Textile” embossing folder by Cuttlebug
    • Large Oval Punch by Stampin’ Up
    • Scallop Oval Punch by Stampin’Up
    • Orange Organza 3/8″ ribbon (small holes punched with Crop a Dile)
    • Thin brown cording by Bead Landing

Short and sweet! Thanks for stopping by! ‘Til next time!!

Every Little Bit Helps…

13 Monday Aug 2012

This is a quick simple birthday card I created for the Scrapbook USA Expo Card Drive. The cards will be used for Operation Write Home and Huntsman Cancer Institute. They have a goal of over 3000 cards!

This will be the sample card to go with the three card kits I made. I tried to make it somewhat simple because children will be getting to put them together. As I understand it, this allows the children undergoing treatment to be able to use the power of healing arts to put together their own cards.

If you would like to participate, you can simply make a card or you can make card kits – card kits should be in a ziplock bag with all the supplies (glue sticks not needed) for the patient to assemble their own card.

Go to the Scrapbook Expo USA Blog to learn more details (including shipping address and deadlines) for this great project!

All those who participate receive a set of free digis from Doodle Dragon Studios (they are really cute!) It’s such a worthwhile cause – It’s a Win-Win!

 Supplies for this card:

  1.  Stamps:
    • “Candle” digital stamp by Doodle Dragon Studios (I don’t remember which set it was in…so sorry!)
    • “Make a wish” digital stamp by Birdie Brown (free this month)
  2. Paper
    • Recollections Card Stock – White, Gold and Turquoise (for the boys cards) and Pink and yellow (for the girls cards)
  3. Ink:
    • Copic Markers
  4. Other Supplies
    • Twine
    • Happy Birthday [Cuttlebug] embossing Folder
    • Various circle punches from 7/8″ to 2 1/4″ (Stampin’ Up)

Directions:

  • Adhere the circles to the A2 card first.
  • Run it through the Cuttlebug with Happy Birthday folder.
  • Decorate to your taste!

Thanks for stopping by! ‘Til next time!

No Ands, Ifs, or Butts About it!

03 Friday Aug 2012

With today’s card, I am continuing to work on my personal challenge – to reach for my stash of tools and techniques previously learned, take them off the shelf, dust them off, and USE them! This cute little pocket card was a lot of fun. I have been wanting to do one for a while and it used quite a few tools; including some Sizzlits button die cuts that I have had for a couple of years and… never used (ughh!)

This card was made specifically with two challenges in mind. One was Dustin Pike’s – Pike’s Playground Challenge “Let’s Get Girly” and the other was The Pink Elephant’s Sketch challenge TPE159.

I have not done many sketches; but I may do more in the future. They are actually kind of fun in that they take away some of the stress of the layout…who knew? (You probably did. Right?)

I put a cute, typed, sentiment on the inside pocket – in reference to Dustin’s crazy cute “Underbear” stamp – “I love you beary much… No ands, ifs, or butts about it!” I attached a Starbucks card to the insert and I will use the non-pocket side to write my note on. Then I will be ready to send it to my God Daughter in Texas.

The supplies for this card are:

  1. Stamp: “Underbear” digital stamp from Doodle Dragon Studios (very cute stuff!!)
  2. Paper:
    • DCWV Spring Fling Stack
    • DCWV Fresh Floral Stack
    • Recollections Hot Pink cardstock
    • Stampin’ Up Lucky Limeade cardstock
  3.  Ink: Copic Markers
  4. Die Cuts:
    • Stampin’ Up Adorning Accents Scalloped die
    • Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Nine
    • Sizzlits Button Set
    • Stampin’ Up 7/8” Circle punch
    • Stampin’ Up corner rounder
  5. Embellishments: Papertrey Ink Vintage Button Collection – Raspberry Fizz

Card Instructions:

  • 12X12 cardstock cut at 5½ inches and scored at 4¼” and 8½” fold both pieces in with the short piece (3½”) on the inside.
  • On the shorter piece, using a 7/8” circle punch,  cut a half circle slot on the center of the edge.
  • Use 1/8” scor-tape along the sides to seal the pocket.
  • See the diagram for a visual on the above – click on it to see a larger picture. Then right click and save to your computer if you would like to.
  • Now decorate it so that it pleases you!

For the card inside the pocket:

  • Cut a piece of cardstock 4 1/8” X 5” (I rounded the bottom corners but you don’t have to.)
  • Cut piece of decorative paper 1½” X 5″, score it half (lengthwise), and round the corners that will show on the front side of the card. Adhere over the top of the card to give it a more finished look.

TIP: For the backing behind my image  – I did not want to use the next size up in the Spellbinders because it was too big for the card – to still give that extra pop of color, I cut out the background piece in the same size as my image then cut it half and attached it to the sides – it blends in with the image piece and looks like a shadow!

Thanks for stopping by! ‘Til next time!
