Good Grief! It has been a week since I made my last post. That sounds like a confession doesn’t it?? Hmmm, well here I am just “chicken” in.
This week has been ca-ray-zee! On Tuesday, I actually drove 4 hours to Charlotte for some focus groups, did evening groups, then drove back home. All in the name of sleeping in my own bed… My friend Melisa tells me that I am driven to sleep in my own bed only proves that I don’t have children at home hahaha!
Now the report is written and the project is complete and I finally got to play with my crayons… literally!! I finally braved up, printed my images on kraft paper, and pulled out my Faber Castell Water Color Crayons. The technique turns out pretty neat but boy does this take a lot longer than coloring and blending with my Copics!!
I practiced first and created a simple CAS card, then I did it again and played in this week’s Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge SC450.
For both of my cards I used the chicken from the Hambo farm pack (I pasted three of them together.) I told you that you would see more of these! I LOVE them. You can get each animal individually but the pack is the best value!! If you don’t use one of them on the first project, you will eventually use them! So it’s a win any way you look at!
I used dark chocolate and kraft card stock by Papertrey Ink, chocolate burlap ribbon by The Paper Studio and DP from the DCWV Playtime Stack. I added some texture to the backgrounds with my Cuttlebug hexagon embossing folder (I look it looked kind of like chicken wire??) I cut out my image and mounted it using Spellbinders Rectangle and deckled rectangle – my faves!!
This was a great personal challenge that was lots of fun! I will try it again…someday.
I hope you are inspired to grab out that coloring medium you haven’t yet tried. What’s the worst that can happen? You get messy and have some fun!!
I am going to enter these cards into the following challenges:
