SNSS Be•YOU•tiful!

The Creative Worship Bible Journaling theme for July is Unity. My challenge is to “get on the same page” and create a bookmark.

I followed along with a Jennifer Mcguire tutorial and created a corner bookmark that I used to decorate a card. After the card has done its job and given someone a reason to smile, the bookmark can be removed and inserted into your Bible. In order for me to explain how this all fits with the theme (for me) let me give you some background… I have been sending happy mail over the last few weeks and just trying to encourage people I know might need a little lift. I believe that in order to have unity, we have to encourage and love one another so if you feel like making 2 bookmarks (one for you and one to share) you will have the spirit of this challenge for sure!

For my project today, I used the new set called True Beauty The flowers are beautiful but the sentiments make me smile out loud!! I chose Be•YOU•tiful as my sentiment because it made me think of my great grandmother. I can hear her now…. “beauty is only skin deep and as long as you are as pretty on the inside as your are on the outside, you will make God smile…”

While Ephesians 2:8–9 remind us that we are saved by grace through faith and it is nothing we have done, but it is a gift from God – good works didn’t play a roll in our salvation! Ephesians 2:10, however, answers the question of what to do after we find salvation. God God calls us His workmanship. We have been “created in Christ Jesus for good works” and though good works do not give us salvation, they are definitely meant to be the result of salvation.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Here is the card I made in my LIVE. This one will be mailed as happy mail tomorrow! I added a little background stamping to make less white space but still be CAS. I also added highlights with a white pencil.

Here is my second card I pulled out the melon color in my flowers on this one.

Here is how you pull the bookmark off the card to use.

Here is a close up of the bookmark on the page.

I hope you are inspired and I would love to see your bookmarks!!

SNSS – Time Well Spent

Happy Friday!!

Today I have a fun card to share. I love to try new techniques and when I stumbled across a Youtube video with Gina K teaching a vintage looking background, I knew I had to try it and I knew the Psalm 23 background stamp and the new Time Well Spent set would be great to use!

It is pretty simple but I think I like it. Maybe a little more practice is necessary but it’s definitely a fun technique for my toolbox 🙂

I hope you are inspired to try a new technique!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

PS and by the way… The Sweet N Sassy Store just kicked off summer with a sale!!

SNSS – TLC Scrape Painting

For today’s TLC challenge at SplitCoast Stampers, I am challenging folks to try the Scrape Painting tutorial shared two weeks ago. I always leave them in my inbox when I want to try them so I don’t lose them or forget I want to try them. It is always fun when I can check it off my list and remove it from my inbox. This one was very fun!

I used acrylics from my stash – colors I like no brand specifics. I decided to go with an ocean theme so I finally tried out a stencil that has been in my stash a VERY long time! The sailboat (popped up with foam) and sentiment came are from a new stamp set at SNSS called Peace Be Still – I absolutely love it!!

I hope you are inspired – I would love for you to join in the challenge HERE!

Bugaboo – Freebie Friday – Book Mark

For today’s Freebie Friday image at Bugaboo Stamps,  we have a really sweet, reading girl.  I remembered a sentiment I had in my stash from a long retired stamp set that I thought would create a really fun clean and simple bookmark.

I backed in red card for stability and so you couldn’t see the copics bleed through. Then I added an eyelet and created a bookmark with twine. It is super simple but really fun.

I am going to enter this into the following challenges:

I hope you are inspired to create – maybe a bookmark or maybe something else. Just have fun!

Have a great weekend!

Hop Order:

This month I am featuring two new sets – GEAR UP and TIME WELL SPENT. These are so great for masculine cards which I am sorely lacking in my stash right now. For today’s cards, I used a Jennifer McGuire Faux Monoprint technique to get 2 backgrounds from one pass. It is super fun and gets great results. I inked up the background of one card with Distress Inks, embossed the gears from GEAR UP, then “printed” them onto a second sheet of cardstock. The second one is lighter and has a reversed look. I paired my cards with sentiments from the TIME WELL SPENT set. I kind of feel like I could use either one of them for a Father’s Day card. What do you think?

Here is the original:
Here is the print:

I love these and plan to make more for sure! I hope you are inspired to do so as well!

NOW head over to see what Sheri has created for you!!

SNSS Begin Again

This weekend, I took my inspiration from my desk 🙂 Meaning, there was versa mark, embossing powders and “watercolors” and the Sweet N Sassy stamp set Begin Again. These butterflies are so beautiful and have so many possibilities!

Here is what I came up with…

First – a set of cards. using  the big butterfly, a rainbow of Brusho colors (one at a time) and gold embossing powders. My mom is going to love these! She is always asking me for greeting cards and these should be perfect for any occasion.

My second project is a mixed media look. I used Distress inks, the smaller butterflies, clear embossing powder, and Psalm 23 to add to the background.

My final project is a Bible Journal card using a card I had previously done and the small butterfly and sentiment in silver – I love this simple card!

I hope you were inspired to play – embossing powder can be super fun and add a lot to your projects!

Bugaboo – New Release Catch the Ball!

Today we have a new release a Bugaboo Stamps call Catch the Ball 2. It is a cute little baseball begging to be put onto a “boy card”…who am I to ignore that 🙂 I also used the May Stella Say Sketch Challenge (SSS810)  for my inspiration – there is still time to join in if you like sketches!

I am not sure what made me decide to go black and white with this one but I did and I really like the effect! I found some simple digital baseball themed paper online  to back my little baseball, added a birthday sentiment, and then I added wiggly eyes for fun! I can’t wait to give it to a certain little boy I know will love it!

I hope you are inspired today! If you want to check out other DT inspiration with this little guy check out the Catch the Bug post today!

I am going to enter this one into the following challenges:

SCS – TLC Challenge – Front Flap Card

For today’s TLC challenge at SplitCoast Stampers, I am challenging folks to try the Front Flap Card tutorial shared a few weeks ago. It has been in my inbox since it was posted so I am super excited to try it today!

I decided to play with a stenciled background and a versamark tone on tone background using Cocoa’s Latte Digital Stamp and Grunge Elements 2 Clear Stamp Set and a sentiment from Special Blend Clear Stamp to create a fun giftcard holder. Pretty simple but super fun!

I hope you are inspired – I would love for you to join in the challenge HERE!

SNSS – Getting Digi With It!!

So I am absolutely loving this months’s new clear stamps at Sweet N Sassy Stamps. They are truly beautiful!  But…Have you seen all of the fabulous new digital stamps in the shop? They are so much fun to create with! Last Friday night I printed up a couple pages of them to just sit and color over the weekend. I didn’t quite get them all colored but I did enjoy the relaxing process of just coloring for the fun of it. Today’s projects are what I came up with for the completed coloring.

I shared on the VIP FaceBook page my coloring pages (here they are for reference.) I got all of the top page (a background page) colored (with pencils) and the bear doctor (with Copics). I got most of the fairy colored too but not all so she will have to come out another day.

I decided to create some thank you cards for some healthcare workers who are so tirelessly working through the current pandemic. Adding the background page using the medical “stuff” from the Healthcare Bears digi and sentiments from the Healthcare Bears digi set and the Nurse Bear digi set (she is FREE) made some simple but awesome cards. I just chopped the page into four pieces and that was that… Fun right??I had a great geli-plate mixed media page sitting in my stash that I thought would go with my doctor bear from Healthcare Bears so I fussy cut him and made a mixed media card…I also colored up the new GG (stands for God’s Girl) with pencils. This one is called Love the Word and she would NOT be denied! This project makes me smile OUT LOUD! After I colored her, I wasn’t sure what sentiment to add, whether she should be a card front or a journal card and I finally decided I wanted her in my Bible. It is a much bigger Journal card than I usually make but that is totally OK! I added a sentiment from God is For You because I thought that it was perfect for both my image and the times we are in.

Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

This is such an awesome reminder that we are to not only to witness to the non believers but to grow in our own faith as well; and in doing so we are rewarded with the knowledge that God is with us ALWAYS until the END! What a comfort in the face of the fears we are now experiencing…Do not fear! God is with you ALWAYS! Not just in the good times…ALWAYS!!

I hope you are inspired today to try dome new digital stamps. They mix great with clear stamps and are lots of fun!!

Have a great day!
