My projects today features Happy Couple and a great complimentary sentiment set Marriage Scripture. These have so much potential but I decided to get creative a bit and still keep it somewhat simple.

The first card is clean and simple using the couple and a scripture on kraft.

  • I used Neenah Dessert Storm paper and colored the image up with my Polychromos colored pencils. Since his suit is filled in on the stamp, I used Archival Shadow Grey to ink it up them I was able to create some shading.
  • To finish my card, I Outlined the image with a black box and added the scripture on the front. It can also go on the inside but I thought it was a great addition to the front of my card.

My second card today is a simple shaker card and uses the cake from Happy Couple and (since it is a wedding card) rice.

  • I used the watercolor paper for this one and colored the cake with Inktense pencils – it was pretty quick and simple and only required 3 pencils to get the shading I wanted.
  • I fussy cut the cake and adhered to the front of my shaker element.
  • With Versafine Black Onyx Ink, I stamped the sentiment. (I lined the words up in separate areas of my MISTI to be able to get them tight and neat.
  • For a finishing touch, I added rice and that is all I needed!

Now it is time to hop on and see what the incredibly talented Monika Davis has for you!

I hope you are inspired to create today and see how you can stretch your stamps (or bring old ones to life again!) And if you get the opportunity to craft with some of these great stamps (or any other SNSS stamp) we would love to see what you create on our SNSS VIP Group Facebook Page; Or tag your creations with #snss or #sweetnsassystamps on Instagram.

SNSS – Surrounded in Prayer

Hi Friends! Today I have more projects (CAS to more complex) for you using the same stamp set. Today I am using Surrounded in Prayer which is a great stamp set AND it is for a cause. My first project is a clean and simple card. I used the sentiment and ribbon from the Surrounded in Prayer set then, to frame it, I used a short border stamp from the Hymn Block set. It is so fun when you are able to use those little stamps from one set on project after project and in different ways! Do you have some sets you can stretch?

Recipe :

  • Paper – Neenah Solar White card stock
  • Image – Surrounded in Prayer and Hymn Block
  • Ink – Stamped image with Gina K Amalgam Ink And Copics (RV02, RV04, RV06, RV17)
  • My background paper is cut with an AJVD rectangle die and Spellbinders Square Die

My Second project is a mixed media art journal page in my 6×6 disc bound journal. This one has a fun layer that make me smile out loud! I found a free copy of Amazing Grace online, printed it and used gel medium to adhere it to my journal page (I put gel medium under it and on top of it) Then I started building from there. A layer of Distress Oxide spray, splattered and edged with ink, some fun washi tape and my favorite elements – the people (colored with Copics) and the sentiment (cut apart and put down in pieces) from the Surrounded in Prayer set. I wanted the characters to look like they were singing soooo I looked through my stamp sets until I found a solid circle (the period in the Chunky Alpha set – woo hoo, how about that!)  I love the colors in this one and I LOVE the song peaking through

Here it is a little close – see the music! So happy right now!!

Recipe :

  • Background – Gel Medium (Golden) and sheet music of Amazing Grace (printed on copy paper)
  • Background ink – Distrss Oxide Spray Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo
  • Splatters – White Pebeo acrylic and Black Dylusion Paint
  • Image and Sentiment – Surrounded in Prayer and Chunky Alpha “Surround” is embossed with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and clear Embossing Powder
  • Main image colored with Copics
  • Washi Tape – By Grace from Illustrated Faith
  • Outline image with Stabilo All Pencil and water brush

I hope you are inspired today. Think about the all the little elements from your various stamp sets and use them in a new way!! Just have fun doing it!!

Thanks for stopping by!

SNSS Happy Easter! Coasters and Card!

Happy Easter everyone!! I hope your day has been as wonderful as mine! How blessed are we?! This day was beautiful in every way!

Today I am sharing another project (well technically two) using the new Delightful Daisies set from Sweet N Sassy Stamps.

For this project, I have a set of coasters and a coordinating card. I made this for a “hostess” gift for my mom today for hosting Easter. I loved this set and really wanted to keep it haha! But I made it as a gift and a gift it was. Maybe I’ll make another set 🙂

Each coaster is a bit different but still part of the set. I looked up Gerbera Daisies and tried to use colors that existed. The best/coolest part is that I colored these with Copics…No really!!

I loved the coasters so much, I decided to create the card – I adore it!

Coaster Recipe :

  • Coasters – Tumbled marble tiles (4×4) from home improvement store.
  • Image – Delightful Daisies
  • Ink – Stamped image with Stazon Jet Black. Let is dry for a little while or heat set BEFORE you start coloring. I used three colors of marker on each flower to get shading but instead of making big sweeps, I was gentle and kind of dotted color on so the alcohol ink would play nice with the Stazon.
  • Once the flowers were colored, I flicked color in from the edges – toward the center but not all the way. THEN I went over the whole tile with the script stamp from Texture Tiles 1 (a go-to set lately!)
  • I added 4×4 pieces of cork to the bottom and stocked them and tied a ribbon around them – voila! ready to give.
  • P.S. and by the way…I put them under water and they didn’t smear 🙂

Card Recipe :

  • Paper – Neenah Solar White card for the front panel, Dark chocolate Bazzil for the mounting paper and white card from Papertrey Ink for the card base
  • Image – Delightful Daisies and Butterfly Flourishes (Retired now but the Made New set would be perfect!)
  • Ink – Stamped image with Archival Jet Black and colored them with Copics (orange YR02, YR04, YR09) (Yellow Y13, Y15, Y17) (red R22, R24, R27) (pink – ok this is a little pinker than found in nature but it is fun RV14, RV04, RV06) (Blue B02, B04, B06)
  • Once the flowers were colored, I flicked a neutral color (E40 and E42) in from the edges – toward the center but not all the way. THEN I went over the whole card with the script stamp from Texture Tiles 1 This stamp easily lines up so you can cover the card and it looks like a big stamp instead of the little stamp it is – I love it!

I hope you are inspired today. Thanks for stopping by!

SNSS – Birthday Card and a Sketch Challenge

Hi Friends! Today I am starting a series of projects using the new Delightful Daisies set from Sweet N Sassy Stamps. The images in this set are so fun and the opportunities for use are unlimited – I am going to show you lots of fun stuff this week!

For my first project, I am playing along with the Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast Stampser (SC745).

I thought would try my hand at messy (outside the lines) water coloring and cutting out the spots from the sketch and popping them up (kind of like the eclipse technique) I think it turned out super fun!!

Recipe :

  • Watercolor paper – Tim Holtz Water Color Card Stock
  • Image – Delightful Daisies
  • Sentiment – Happy Birthday Set (This is retired now but you can still get it in digital format) Happy Birthday DIGI
  • Ink – Stamped image with Archival Jet Black smooshed Distress inks for the background. Colors were – Abandoned Coral and Picked Raspberry for the flower, Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron for the stem and grass, and Tumbled Glass and Broken China for the sky. When that was dry, I went in and added some shading with Inktense pencils.
  • I used Simon Says Stamps stitched circle dies for my take on the sketch. I mounted those on fun foam for dimension. Mounted the watercolor panel on Raspberry Fizz and then White Card (Papertrey Ink). Add a few sequins finish my card.

I hope you are inspired today. Thanks for stopping by!

My projects today features Walk Humbly, an incredible set by our very own Colleen Gaddie! It is so sweet and very versatile. To show you this I have created a couple of cards AND a Bible journal page. It isn’t just good for one or the other!

Walk Humbly 4 x 6 set

The first card is clean and simple using the long haired girl and elements and sentiments from several other sets(listed below) to create a birthday card.

  • I used Strathmore Coldpress watercolor paper and colored the image up with my Polychromos colored pencils. I wanted to test out color pencils on the texture of watercolor paper and it was pretty cool!
  • Her hand out and ready to hold whatever you put in it, so I added the gift from Home for the holidays and then created a perfect sentiment combining sentiments from Scripty Thoughts and All Wrapped Up – Look through your stamps and see what you can combine for a new look and feel. It is so much fun!
  • To finish my card, I mounted my panel on Yellow cardstock then I mounted that on a card base made from the Papertrey Ink Ecru cardstock.

My second card today uses the girl who looks like she may be praying so… I used some sentiments from the new Surrounded in Prayer set (this is a stamp for a cause – you will here about it on the hop!!).

  • I used the word prayer to stamp a continuous run with mustard seed, spiced marmalade, Abandoned coral, and festive berries Distress Inks.
  • With Versafine Black Onyx Ink, I stamped the sentiment. (I lined the word prayer up with one already on the page so it would look like a shadow.)
  • I stamped my girl on Xpress it Blender paper and colored her with Copic markers then fussy cut her glued her onto my card and added a little washi tape to ground her.
  • For a finishing touch, I added some white gel pen details and mounted my finished piece on red cardstock then onto a Neenah Solor white base.

By the way…My Copic colors included R17, R25, and R29 (for the reds), E00, E21, E11 (for the skin) anf E35, E37, and E39 (for the hair).

Finally, I have a Bible Journal page using the long haired girl and the sentiment (inspired from Micah 6:8)

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly[a] with your God.”

  • She is inked with Archival ink and colored with Polychromos pencils!
