The first project is a clean and simple set using both stamp sets.

My second project today is a set of Bible journal cards with a mixed media background.

  • I used Canson watercolor paper for this one
  • I ink smooshed on my watercolor paper with shades of gold and brown Distress Oxides.
  • I created texture with Texture Tiles 1
  • With Gina K Amalgam Ink, I stamped the sentiments using the sentiment from The Shepherd’s Voice and Hello My Name Is
  • I didn’t originally have the print (from Texture Tiles 1) over my third one, but I messed it up and instead of throwing it out, I doctored it up and now I love, love, love it!

SNSS Fintastic Friends

Hi Friends!

Today I have some fintastic projects to share using the new Fintastic Friends set. It is so adorable and such a perfect companion set for the Mer-mazing set.

My first project uses the some smooshed backgrounds combined to create a fairly clean and simple look – It was a Splitcoast Stampers Sketch a couple of weeks ago. I colored my little turtle up with Copics, cut him out and popped him up. I use the sentiment Smile because he makes me smile and he looks like he is smiling. My Second project uses uses Distress Oxides for a smooshed background then I embossed it with a wave folder. I gently rubbed white ink over the waves so they would stand out. I colored several Fintastic Friends with Copics, cut them out and adhered them to the card. I finished it off with sequins and a cut out sentiment (from the set).

Recipe :

  • Paper –  Strathmore Bristol Smooth, Xpress It (For Copics)
  • Images and sentiments – Fintastic Friends set
  • Ink – Distress Inks, Distress Oxides, And Copics
  • Ink for Sentiment – Versafine Onyx Black

I hope you are inspired today! Thanks for stopping by!

Mermazing Birthday

Today I have a quick project for you. I have been creating so many beach backgrounds this month, I decided to color up an extra mermaid using the new Mer-mazing set and create a tag with some left over background paper.

The twist on this tag is that I used Inktense pencils and and wink of stella to color her (not water). The tag uses Lots a Spots and  Texture Tiles 3

There are still a couple of days left to join the challenge at Sweet N Sassy’s VIP Facebook Group…hop over and check it out!  If you are not a member of this group, you should consider joining – it is so inspirational!

SNSS June Blog Hop – Lemons

Hi friends! Welcome to the June 2019 Release After Party Hop!

This month we have some sweet and adorable  stamps as well as some pretty and elegant sets! You should get good and inspired 🙂

You should have arrived here from Lucinde’s page. If not, jump back there so you don’t miss anything.

Hop along to all of the blogs (listed below just in case something goes wrong along the way…🙂 ) for even more inspiration with the JUNE stamps. Leave a little comment love on each stop along the way for a chance to win a $10 gift voucher to the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps shop. Winner will be announced on the SNSS blog, Tuesday, June 25.

Hop Order:

My projects today features Life and Lemons.  I stepped away from my Copics for today’s projects.

The first card is clean and simple using polychromos pencils on kraft.

  • I used Neenah Dessert Storm paper and colored the image up with my Polychromos colored pencils.
  • Since it is supposed to be a clear jar, I used versamark for the outline image and heat set it before I colored it.
  • To finish my card, I went back and used the sentiment and lemon slice to fill in the background using Versamark for a tone on tone look. I highlighted with a little white watercolor acrylic paint to make the jar look more “glass-like”.

My second card today is a simple watercolor card.

  • I used Canson watercolor paper for this one a
  • I put distress ink on an acrylic block, misted it, and stamped it onto water color paper
  • I ink smooshed ona scrap piece of watercolor paper with shades of yellow in one spot and shades of green in another. I stamped the leaves with the darkest green in the green area and the lemon with the darkest shade of yellow on the yellow area – this gave me natural shading…
  • I fussy cut the lemon and leaves and adhered the to my card with foam tape for dimension.
  • With Versafine Black Onyx Ink, I stamped the sentiment.

Now it is time to hop on and see what the incredibly talented Monika Davis has for you!

I hope you are inspired to create today and see how you can stretch your stamps (or bring old ones to life again!) SCS – Challenge and Hymn Blocks

For today’s challenge at Splitcoast Stampers, I went with an easy but colorful background using my Distress Oxide Ink Pads. I am not sure if this technique has been done, but it was fun and easy to sit down and create a bunch of backgrounds so I thought I would go for it!

I started by randomly  placing the ink pad directly down on my paper and repeating  the  process  with  more  ink  until I was  happy  with  way  it  looked.  The  first  one  uses blues,  greens,  and yellows. When I had used all the colors, I went back in with the lightest colors to fill in the blanks. And that was it. Fun geometric looking background.
I  made  several  more  using  colors  in  rainbow order….

All My cards use the NEW Hymn Word Art Set from Sweet N Sassy

Now it is your turn! Try it with different colors, different inks, different ink pad shapes. Just have Fun!

For fun, I created a challenge at Sweet N Sassy’s VIP Facebook Group with a video tutorial. All my projects use the scene building technique from the tutorial but they all use a different medium… Use what you have, it is easy and fun!

My first project uses the beach scene technique with color pencils and the sentiment is built using the Scripty Thoughts set

My Second project uses Copics to build my scene.  My Third project uses Distress Oxides and white acrylic paint to build my scene and Copics to color the images. I used Texture Tiles 1 to create the texture in sand.

  • Paper – Canson Watercolor card stock (for color pencils), Strathmore Bristol Smooth (for Distess Oxides), Xpress It (For Copics)
  • Image – Mer-mazing set
  • Sentiments (not from Mer-mazing set) are from Scripty Thoughts set
